Computer Requirements and Recommendations
Following are recommendations for operating systems, software, and network capabilities for using our courseware. The recommendations are based on our development and testing environments. It is possible that the courseware will work with other configurations. We recommend that you test the capability of your computer and network configuration using the sample lessons before you sign up for the course.Operating System
The courseware was primarily developed and tested on Windows XP Professional and Media operating systems. It was also run successfully on Windows Vista Home Premium.Software
You need the following software installed on your computer:- Microsoft Excel - course materials have been tested on MS Excel 2000 and MS Excel 2003. You need to have Excel installed since this course deals exclusively with writing Excel VBA.
- Adobe Flash Player - the courseware relies heavily on exercises created using Adobe Captivate. The exercises are run as Flash videos using Adobe Flash Player. You can download the player using this link (you will leave this website): http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
Using the Courseware with Excel 2007
The courseware can be completed using Excel 2007. Excel VBA didn't change much from Excel 97 to Excel 2007 (how can you change something that's almost perfect?). However, the workbook side of Excel 2007 is a fair bit different than Excel 2003. The menu and toolbar structure of Excel 2003 is replaced by the Ribbon-style structure of Excel 2007.This means that a few of the instructions in the VBATrain courseware do not apply in Excel 2007. We have addressed that issue by providing alternative instructions for Office 2007 coursware users. Just click the following link:
